The 6th Global Assembly of the Global Network on Electoral Justice has started today in Medellin, Colombia. We are represented by Arnold Tsunga our Elections and Rule of Law Expert.
The main topics for discussion include Constitutionalism, human rights and electoral justice: what legal mechanisms do democracies have to confront autocracies?; Political alternation and plurality: electoral justice as a pillar of Morden democracies; Landmark rulings and case law: effective protection of the political-electoral rights of all people; and Gender Equality, Judicial Independence and Electoral integrity and Social Media.
The AJJF Elections and Rule of law programme has been central in creating and supporting with resources and technical expertise, an African platform on electoral justice for electoral justice practitioners who work in the difficult area of electoral dispute resolution. Through these platforms the AJJF contributes to creating safe spaces for electoral adjudicators to share experiences and best practices to improve electoral integrity and justice in Africa. This helps to entrench the rule of law as a catalyst for Africa’s development.
