The African Judges and Jurists Forum (AJJF) is proud to announce the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Mandate of the Focal Point Person on Judicial Independence in Africa, under the auspices of the African Commission on Human and Peoples’ Rights.
This landmark agreement marks a significant step in AJJF’s ongoing commitment to protecting and promoting judicial independence across the continent. The MOU strengthens our collaboration with one of the African Union’s key mechanisms for upholding human rights and the rule of law.
Through this partnership, AJJF and the Focal Point Mandate will work together to:
- Provide technical guidance on the protection of judicial institutions and actors,
- Support states in fulfilling their obligations under Article 26 of the African Charter,
- Monitor and respond to threats against Judicial Independence,
- Promote research, training, and advocacy initiatives that reinforce the autonomy and integrity of the judiciary.
This collaboration reflects our shared vision: an Africa where courts are impartial, judges are protected, and justice is not only delivered — but trusted.
We look forward to implementing joint initiatives that reinforce the institutional independence of the judiciary and support the legal frameworks that uphold democratic governance and human rights across the continent.
