On 8th December 2025, Arnold Tsunga, the AJJF Elections and Rule of Law Advisor and Coordinator of the Africa Electoral Justice Network (AEJN) will be officiating as Master of Ceremony at a Webinar for the launch of a Toolkit on Judicial Oversight of Artificial Intelligence in African Elections. The Toolkit that will be launched is believed to be the first of its kind globally. It is the result of a consultative and collaborative process involving renowned experts, institutions, and partners who share the goal of enhancing democratic governance and electoral justice in Africa. The topics that will be covered during the Webinar include:

• AI and Justice Systems in Africa

• Artificial Intelligence in Africa’s Elections.

• Legal and Normative Frameworks on AI in Africa Elections

• Evidence Management in Al-related Election Disputes

• Judicial Remedies and Reliefs in Al-Electoral Disputes

• Simulated Scenarios for Judicial Engagement

Yiaga Africa and the Centre for Human Rights of the University of Pretoria offered technical assistance to the toolkit development process. The Africa Judges and Jurists Forum (AJJF), the South Africa Judicial Education Institute (SAJEI) offer invaluable support in conceptual, secretarial and coordination services to the AEJN. The AJJF organised the inaugural meeting of the electoral justice network in May 2019 in South Africa in collaboration with the South Africa Judicial Education Institute (SAJEI), the International Commission of Jurists (ICJ) and the International Federation on Electoral Systems (IFES).

The AEJN is a platform of electoral justice practitioners who work in the difficult area of electoral dispute resolution. Through this platform, judges from all jurisdictions in Africa irrespective of their context and whether members of the AJJF or not, have a safe space where they share experiences openly, mentor each other and appreciate best practices from each other without facing pressure from authorities or any powerful people in their jurisdictions.
