Consultant to Conduct a Continental Study on the Threats and Challenges to Judicial Independence in Africa and to Recommend Possible Solutions
Introduction
Africa Judges and Jurists Forum (AJJF) is seeking a consultant to conduct a study on contemporary threats against judicial independence in Africa and suggest recommendations to address the identified threats.
The study will focus on Southern, East and West Africa.
The study shall:
- Provide an overview analysis of the state of judicial independence in Africa.
- Identify and analyse patterns or threats and challenges against judicial independence in Africa.
- Identify and analyse sources of the threats and challenges against judicial independence in Africa.
- Identify and make recommendations to stakeholders on measures which must be undertaken to address the identified threats and challenges against judicial independence in Africa.
- Make use of diverse research methodologies to achieve the above stated outcomes.
Qualifications and Experience required.
AJJF is seeking experts with extensive professional and practical background on issues relating to the independence of the judiciary in Southern, East, and West Africa. AJJF particularly welcomes applications from experts with demonstrated skill sets in research methodologies in the fields of constitutional law, human rights law, access to justice, and sustainable development in Southern, East, and West Africa.
